Welcome to Baytown Township
Baytown Township is an urban township located east of Lake Elmo between Stillwater and Afton on the St. Croix River in Washington County, Minnesota. The Township is decentralized, allowing residents to enjoy the benefits of a rural community with urban conveniences nearby without costly public services. Older homes and rural farms characteristic of the St. Croix Valley still remain in the area, and contribute to the simple and pleasant lifestyle enjoyed by the residents of the Township.

The Township has two state parks and open-space areas that provide many opportunities for outdoor recreation. The 148-acre St. Croix Savanna Scientific and Natural Area is considered to be the best hill prairie and oak savanna along the Lower St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. And the Bayport Wildlife Management Area is dedicated to woodland and wetland management. There are several trails that traverse the Township and connect to the Brown’s Creek State Trail and the Central Greenway.
